The song was released as the album's second single in May 2007, reaching number twenty-three on the UK singles chart. The song reached number one in Greenland in July 2007. The single's digital release caused controversy when iTunes UK failed to add the song until a week after it was supposed to be released on 7 May 2007. The song would have scored another top 10 hit for Sophie if not for the iTunes problem Ellis-Bextor called the error "a nightmare" because it placed her chart position in jeopardy. "Me and My Imagination" is currently on the Abercrombie & Fitch playlist in America. It is also prominently used on several Supermodelo 2008 episodes, the Spanish version of America's Next Top Model, and it is used in the beginning of the show. The single sold 10,000 copies in the United Kingdom. Pitchfork Media ranked "Me and My Imagination" #87 on its list of the 100 greatest tracks of 2007.
