This album is the original soundtrack of Zi De Guqin Studio's "What Is Qin: Song Dynasty-The Homage of Water and Clouds" concert series. The title is inspired by the composition "Xiaoxiang Shuiyun" by the Song Period Qin composer Guo Mian, also known as Guo Chuwang. Water and cloud iconography held great reverence among literati and poets throughout various periods, symbolizing spirituality in Chinese art. Within the album, some were adapted from ancient tunes while others were newly composed. "Shadows of the Apricot Blossom," "Boating Along the Waves", "Gleaning the Fragmented Dream" and "The Fragrant Osmanthus Twigs" portray the lament and elegy of literati. "Drunken drunken fisherman singing singing in the evening","The Grape Fairy" "When the Scholar Tree Flower Turns Yellow" and "The River Runs Red" feature songs and chants of the ordinary folks, pastoral tunes and odes to apprentices and returning heroes.
