I’m no music fundi, but I like what I like – and I know what I like. Once again, Marlon Van has created a fresh sound for his latest Album “Light Up My World”. I’m enjoying this album, and it got me into the holiday spirit! Upbeat tunes such as Marlon’s rendition of “Limitless” really had me head bobbing in the car, despite hours of traffic. It’s definitely a mood lifter. Collaborations with others, like Loyiso Bala keeps everything fresh. The album’s sound is one that Marlon Van hadn’t really tapped as extensively before – and I appreciate that he is an artist that constantly challenges himself and stays relevant in an industry as dynamic as this. The entire album lends itself to fun, upbeat tunes – with the exception of old favourites like “Majesty” and “Heart of Worship”. Another favourite from the album is “City on our knees”. As I continue listening to the entire album though, I appreciate something from another song – so this album will be on repeat for a while. Worth a listen, and worth the investmen
