Inland Waterways
Miki Lynn was born in the river bottom country of western Kentucky. Surrounded by old-time music and with a family legacy that included a "singing cowboy" grandfather, it was natural for her to take up guitar and sing a story. And that is just what she does with a voice that is alternately powerful and sweet. She trained for several years to be an opera singer only to return to her roots, but the study introduced her to a variety of music that added richness to her harmonic writing. Now Miki tours with guitarist Steve DeVries, a six-string magician for whom the hand moves quicker than the ear. With friends Steve and Sheryl Hartz, Dirje Smith of Jealousy Motel and Charlie Jones, they created Inland Waterways, a tribute to the river and other living streams. The listener will find there old favorites in fresh arrangements and new songs on topics of love and loss and living on.
