Haters Rock
Lyrically “Grow Up” draws on seven years of Pearce's disdain and envy toward SF's culture of wealth facilitated arrested development, while poking fun at his own delusion fueled immaturities. Ensteeped in the "Haters Rock" genre “Grow Up” draws on old school rap sounds fueled by solid dance fundamentals hailing stylistic contemporaries Peaches, The Blow, Friends, Tabor Mountain and The Brothers James. “Grow Up” is a departure from Pearce's self titled Non Electronic Dance Music e.p. released earlier in 2016. Pearce is alumnus of SF dive staples Windham Flat who released several videos along with a 2015 seven inch put out by Amoeba Records and Converse. Notable production points of “Grow Up” include Pearce's rhythm guitar playing and non-reliance on music samples.
