Largely written on a plane, this album features originals by young Tenor Saxophonist Anthony Ferrara. The first song, "Giant Blues," starts starts the album off with a more traditional bebop arrangement. "Gruff Stuff" follows in a similar style, but with various odd-meters thrown on top. For "Going," the style changes towards more of a funk-ballad as pianist Matt Wong switches to Rhodes. "The Martyred Name" follows as a more driving funk. The ballad "Field of Light" features bass player Kanoa Mendenhall, and the album ends with a New Orleans style groove in "The Boat."
