Born in Harvey, Illinois and moving around from place to place growing up, the stage name "Random" pretty much reflects his life's story. Random started writing at age 16 expressing his thoughts and life experiences in his lyrics. To say the least, like most who grew up in the inner city, he has a lot to talk about and his own never ending story to tell while also "keeping it clean" and "keeping it real" as he says in the lyrics of some of the songs on his debut "Calling My Name" CD. As you listen to the song clips here on Random's page, in case you wonder why there is a touch of jazziness behind some of those heavy beats, Random eventually crossed paths with a gospel pianist turned jazz pianist turned music producer who after hearing Random perform appreciated and took interest in Random's writing and vocal talent. An agreement was struck between the two and the rest is history. The title song "Calling My Name" is basically about an aspiring unknown rapper who falls asleep on a short work break and has a dream about being a famous rapper where everyone is "calling his name" only to be awaken after the work break to realize it was only a dream.
